Funeral Masses
One of the Corporal Works of Mercy is to bury the dead, an act that honors the dignity of every human person as a child of God. From the earliest days of the Church, Christians have cared for the bodies of the deceased, seeing them as temples of the Holy Spirit and as a sign of our hope in the Resurrection. To bury the dead means more than laying a body to rest—it also calls us to pray for the deceased, attend wakes and funerals, offer Mass intentions, comfort grieving families, send a card or prepare a meal for those in mourning, and visit cemeteries to pray for the faithful departed. In living this work of mercy, we remind one another that death is not the end, but the doorway to eternal life with Christ.
As a parish family, we share a list of upcoming funerals for our deceased parishioners. We encourage you to attend whenever possible—not only to pray for the soul of the departed, but also to offer comfort and support to their grieving families. Your presence is a powerful witness of faith, love, and community, and it is one of the most meaningful ways we can live out this Work of Mercy together.
