Parishioner Support

Bereavement, Gift Shop, Ministry of the Sick, Prayer Shawl, Young at Heart

Purpose: To extend the condolences and support of the entire parish family to those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Members take turns attending the Wake or Vigil at local funeral homes and the Funeral Mass to provide a compassionate presence. We send cards and follow-up phone calls to bereaved families. The Ministry sponsors structured small group support sessions. On November 2nd, we assist the parish and pastor and priests with the Feast of All Souls candle-lit memorial Mass.

When and Where: We meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month in the Parish Hall at 7 p.m.

Time Commitment: It is a flexible commitment based on the need for the ministry and your availability. Support groups follow a structured format covering a 10-week period. The support group meetings within the 10 weeks are held weekly and last two hours.

Talents and Gifts: We need people who are compassionate and good listeners.

Gifts of Faith is our parish religious book and gift shop. It was opened to fill the need to have quality religious items available to our parishioners. You will find many treasures in the gift shop, some handmade by our own parishioners. Please stop in any time before or after our weekend Masses. We are located on the left as you enter through the main entrance to the Church. The staff will be happy to help you find what you are looking for, from Bibles to rosaries.

Time Commitment: A minimum of 2–3 hours per week to make the visits on the days they are scheduled. The minister to the critically ill may be asked to see the parishioners on a daily basis.

Talents and Gifts: Able to interact with the sick person and address their needs with Holy Communion; those who help the critically ill need to be able to handle end of life issues. Need to be a commissioned Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and have your own transportation.
